He Is Everywhere

One never knows how God may speak to you. Reading An Instance of the Fingerpost by Iain Pears the other day I came across this, "Mr. Milton set out in his great poem to justify the ways of God to men, as he says. He has not considered one question, however: perhaps God has forbidden men to know His ways, for if they did know the full extent of His goodness, and the magnitude of our rejection of it, they would be so disheartened they would abandon all hope of redemption, and die of grief." 

"Mr. Milton's great poem" of course refers to his epic 1667 work Paradise Lost in which he tells the Biblical story of the Fall of Man; the temptation of Adam and Eve by the fallen angel Satan and their expulsion from the Garden of Eden.

If we really stopped to think...if we were God..meaning if we knew all...everything we did, said or thought...would we bother to save the likes of us? Most likely not. Thank God we are not God. He was willing to die for us knowing all that He does about us. Amazing. 

Often the Lord speaks when and where we least expect it. In 1 Kings 19 God says to the prophet Elijah,

11 “Go out and stand before me on the mountain,” the Lord told him. And as Elijah stood there, the Lord passed by, and a mighty windstorm hit the mountain. It was such a terrible blast that the rocks were torn loose, but the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. 12 And after the earthquake there was a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire there was the sound of a gentle whisper. 13 When Elijah heard it, he wrapped his face in his cloak and went out and stood at the entrance of the cave.

Sometimes it's in the whispers. So, be listening. God is everywhere and you never know how or where He will speak to you.
